Construction Maintenance

About This Course:

Students will be introduced to the different types of building maintenance. They will learn basic safety and use of hand tools, power tools, and chemicals used in facility maintenance. Students will learn the basic skills to install and repair drywall; how to install under layment, floor coverings and trim; and learn to identify and use the proper tools and materials for these areas. Students will earn 1 CTE credit and 3 UAF credits. This hands-on class will be from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with an hour lunch break on April 5th - 10th with travel to and from Fairbanks on April 4th and 11th. This class is for high school students interested in learning construction related skills. Students who have had a permit for 6 months or longer will also be able to drive for their driver’s license.
